ABOUT

 STUDIO FABER

Studio Faber was founded by Dorus Faber in 2012. After his studies at the Design Academy in Eindhoven he worked as a freelance model maker for multiple companies. Including UNstudio, Royal Tichelaar and Werkplaats Vincent de Rijk.
Next to freelancing he started executing projects for third parties in his own workshop in Eindhoven.

After working abroad for one year, Dorus decided his new base should be in Rotterdam and told Vincent de Rijk he was looking for a new workshop. Vincent said: I have plenty of space. You can rent the office right next to me.
And thus, a somewhat improvised collaboration began between Dorus and Vincent where they both run their own business yet often work together like a dusty dream.

Thank you Vincent!

Making large models is hardly ever a solo operation. We work together with the architect. And depending on the size of the project, we hire other freelancers and professional model makers to come and help out. We are always looking for talented people to join the fun.

WHAT WE BELIEVE IN:

CRAFTSMANSHIP

With all the technology we have to produce whatever we want, we believe a model which has been made with love and attention still beats the hell out of a 3D print.

For us making a great model is often a combination of both craftsmanship and modern technology.

MODERN TECHNOLOGY

3D printing, scanning, laser cutting, waterblasting, nano filling... We use basically every technique imaginable if it makes our work better and our lives easier.

There are loads of funky machines living in our workshop that save us time, money, effort and a lot of bandaids.

ARTISTIC VALUE

A model is always a representation of an idea It can be interpreted in many different ways. Ranging from hyper realistic to super abstract and anything in between

The hardest thing is to catch that idea and to turn it into an art piece that stands by itself.

We always strive to do the latter.

YOU

The most important factor is you. We base our models on your ideas. And we do our ultimate best to get them out of that creative brain of yours

Keeping a short line in communication surely helps.

As does having a design background, so we can all be on the same page.
